Student Participation Checklist

The Career Planning Center (CPC) recommends that students participating in the 2024 Fall Recruitment Program use the following checklist:

___ 1. Carefully review these Recruitment Program web pages, ensuring that you meet eligibility requirements and are familiar with all requirements for participation, policies and procedures, and key dates and deadlines.

___ 2. Access Symplicity using your personal username and password. When you access Symplicity, make sure your account information is accurate and up-to-date. Click "My Account" on the bottom of the left menu bar, then carefully check the information under the Personal and Academic tabs. 

___ 3. Under the OCI tab in Symplicity, review the employers participating in the appropriate session, paying close attention to hiring criteria and documents requested for each employer.

___ 4. Research employers of interest to you that are participating in the Fall Recruitment Program. (See Frequently Asked Questions, #2.)

___ 5. Create/update your legal résumé in accordance with the standards set forth in the CPC's Legal Résumé Guide

___ 6. Request that a copy of your unofficial law school be uploaded to Symplicity per the instructions on the Transcripts web page. Do not copy and paste from CheckMarq. 

___ 7. Select a writing sample and edit and revise if necessary.

___ 8. Prepare a list of references.

___ 9. Upload to Symplicity your résumé and any other application materials (e.g., transcripts, writing sample, list of references) required by employers of interest. Do not submit any document to an employer that is not specifically requested by that employer.

___ 10. Bid/apply for interviews with employers of interest on Symplicity. Online bidding OPENS on Monday, June 10, 2024.The bid deadlines, which vary depending on the employer, are listed under the "Bidding Deadline" column. The first bid deadline is Monday, July 15, 2024, at 11 PM. All required application materials for applicable session employers must be uploaded to Symplicity and submitted for the appropriate employer by the deadline. There are no exceptions.

___ 11. Submit electronically to CPC by 11PM (Central Time) on Friday, July 26, 2024 the completed Student Agreement Form required for participation in the Fall Recruitment Program:

___ 12. Check your email regularly to see if you have been selected for an interview with an employer for which you bid. You will be notified by email from mulawcareers@marquette.edu whether you have been selected for an interview, selected as an alternate, or not selected.

___ 13. If selected for an interview, go to Symplicity to sign up for an available interview slot. Be sure to note the date and time of the interview and whether the interview is virtual or in person. If it's an in-person interview, note the location of the interview.

___ 14. Research the interviewer(s) you will be meeting with. At a minimum, familiarize yourself with their practice focus, and the law school and undergraduate institutions they attended.

___ 15. Carefully review the Interviewing Guide and consider scheduling with a member of the CPC staff a meeting to discuss interview tips and strategies and/or participate in a mock interview. 

___ 16. At your designated interview date, show up on time, prepared and dressed in appropriate professional interview attire (as described in Section VIII of the CPC's Interviewing Guide).
