Biography:
Professor Kossow teaches Property, Trusts and Estates and Real Estate Finance and Development. After graduation from the Georgetown University Law Center, he clerked for both Judges Walter Bastian and David Bazelon, then serving on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. The next year, Professor Kossow was appointed to the Georgetown law faculty, where he served for five years. During this time, Professor Kossow was awarded a Ford Foundation grant to teach law in Ethiopia, to work with Emperor Haile Sellassie on a land reform program and to draft a statute on intra- family wealth transmission. Upon returning to the United States two years later, he practiced law in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as a partner in the firm of Stepke, Kossow, Trebon and Stadtmueller. Following this, Professor Kossow returned to the business world where he spent fifteen years as a developer of multi-family apartments, condominiums and high rise office buildings. For the past ten years, Professor Kossow has been a member of the St. Thomas and the Stetson law faculties. He has written articles on both property and probate law and, in fifteen years of teaching law, he has won seven best professor awards, at three different law schools.
