Biography:
{B.A. Economics & Philosophy (cum laude & Phi Beta Kappa), 1991, Marquette University; J.D. Marquette University Law School, 1995}.
Prof. Anderson is the Associate Director of the National Sports Law Institute of Marquette University Law School where he is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Law. Prof. Anderson founded the Institute's Sports Law Alumni Association and serves as its Chair. He is a Faculty Advisor and the Supervisor of the Marquette Sports Law Review. Prof. Anderson teaches or has taught "The Law of Amateur Athletics," seminars titled "Sports, Law & Society," and "Selected Topics in Sports Law," a workshop in "Amateur Athletics" and a workshop titled "Topics in Advanced Legal Research - Sports Law."
Prof. Anderson has been with the Institute in various capacities since 1992, having worked on and organized the first three SPORTS REVENUES, VENUES AND VALUES conferences and worked on the writing and editing of THE STADIUM GAME. He coordinates all Institute Workshops, Seminars and Conferences and is the Editor of FOR THE RECORD, YOU MAKE THE CALL. . ., SPORTS FACILITY REPORTS and this website.
Prof. Anderson has written the books SPORTS LAW: A DESKTOP HANDBOOK (1999), MAJOR LEAGUE LEASES: An Overview of Major League Facility Leases and How They Are Negotiated (w/ Miller) (2001), and co-edited SPORTS LAW & REGULATION (w/ Hylton) (1999). He has also published several articles with the MARQUETTE SPORTS LAW JOURNAL, the JOURNAL OF SPORTS AND SOCIAL ISSUES, THE INTERNATIONAL SPORTS LAW REVIEW, THE VIRGINIA JOURNAL OF SPORTS AND THE LAW, THE SPORTS LAWYER, SPORTS LAW BULLETIN, THE TEXAS REVIEW OF SPORT AND ENTERTAINMENT LAW, THE SPORTS, PARKS, AND RECREATION LAW REPORTER, CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN SPORTS and other publications.
A former Editor-in-Chief of the MARQUETTE SPORTS LAW JOURNAL, Prof. Anderson is the Editor of the JOURNAL OF THE LEGAL ASPECTS OF SPORT, the Supervisor of the MARQUETTE SPORTS LAW REVIEW, the legal column editor for SPORTSTRAVEL MAGAZINE, and serves on the Editorial Board for the SPORTS, PARKS AND RECREATION LAW REPORTER.
Prof. Anderson has been involved in several consultation projects including work with the SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE in regard to the Padres and Chargers stadium deals, the NFL, NBC, the Milwaukee Brewers, the Baltimore Orioles, and THE WASHINGTON POST. Prof. Anderson has been frequently quoted in THE WASHINGTON POST, SPORTS BUSINESS JOURNAL, THE PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, THE CHICAGO TRIBUNE, THE BALTIMORE SUN, and USA TODAY.
Prof. Anderson is a member of the Sport & Recreation Law Association, the American Bar Association's Forum on the Sports and Entertainment Industries, the Sports Lawyers Association, the International Association of Sports Law, the British Sports Lawyers Association. He is also Chair of the Sports and Entertainment Law Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin, Chair of the Bar's Section Leaders Advisory Council Subcommittees on Section Membership, and serves on its Law Student Membership Committee.
Special Recognitions: Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Sigma Tau and Sigma Tau Delta Academic Honors Societies.
