
Important Dates and Information
Many of you have begun the countdown to graduation. In the weeks ahead, we will provide detailed information about all the events involved with graduation. For now, please note the following times, dates, and locations of the all-University Commencement Ceremony and the Law School Hooding Ceremony. We have also included information about the Baccalaureate Mass and the Group Bar Admission Swearing-In Ceremony.
All-University Commencement Ceremony: Sunday, December 20 (9:30 - 11:30 a.m.)
- The all-University Commencement Ceremony will be held at the U.S. Cellular Arena (400 W. Kilbourn) at 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
- Law graduates will process in together and be seated as a group.
- Graduates will be recognized individually. Each graduate's name will be read as the graduate walks across the stage to receive his/her diploma cover from Dean Kearney and shake hands with Rev. Robert Wild, S. J., President of Marquette University.
- Academic apparel is worn.
- Graduates may bring an unlimited number of guests.
- Guest seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Law School Luncheon and Hooding Ceremony: Sunday, December 20 (12:30 - 2:30 p.m.)
RSVP ONLINE BY MONDAY, NOVEMBER 30
- A luncheon followed by the Law School Hooding Ceremony will take place in Alumni Memorial Union, 3rd Floor Ballroom, on the Marquette campus. This event follows the morning all-University Commencement Ceremony.
- The graduate and eight guests may attend the luncheon at no cost. Additional guests will be charged a fee of $10 per person, ages 12 and up.
- Graduates are seated with their families/guests at the luncheon.
- Immediately following the luncheon, the Hooding Ceremony will take place in the Ballroom.
- Law graduates are recognized individually at the Hooding Ceremony. Graduates receive their academic hood onstage and a congratulatory handshake from the Dean. A professional photographer is at the ceremony to photograph each graduate as he/she shakes hands with the Dean.
- Academic apparel is brought to this event and worn during the Hooding Ceremony. There will be coat racks available for students to hang their academic apparel during the luncheon.
University Baccalaureate Mass: Saturday, December 19 (7:30 - 9:00 p.m.)
- The Mass will be celebrated in Gesu Church (1145 W. Wisconsin Avenue).
- Attendance is optional.
- Academic apparel is not worn.
- There is no limit on the number of guests a student may bring to the Mass.
- Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Group Bar Admission Swearing-In Ceremony: Tuesday, January 19, 2010 (Noon)
The group swearing-in ceremony for eligible diploma privilege admission candidates will be held in Madison at the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Capitol Building. More details will be available in the months ahead.
