Audio/Visual and Computer Equipment

The Marquette University Law School offers a variety of audio/visual equipment for faculty to checkout. Digital recording equipment (video, audio, photo) is available, as well as loaner laptop computers for faculty use. Faculty should complete the Online Equipment Request Form to reserve equpiment. Individual instruction is available, just contact the Law School Media and Technology Group. Please indicate if you prefer to have the staff operate the equipment.

Faculty who require special classroom computer software should contact the Media and Technology Group. A very limited number of laptop computers are available for student use as required to complete coursework using special software.

Course Pages & Course Materials

Course Pages
Web based course pages are available on the Law School's website. Faculty are able manage the web pages specific to their courses. Faculty may add / delete items as well as link to required readings and assignments.

Course Email Lists
The email individual addresses of students enrolled in a particular course are available from CheckMarq. Contact dax.phillips@marquette.edu for a list of the email addresses of all students enrolled in a class.

Course Facebooks
Course facebooks are a contact sheet of photographs of students enrolled in your course. The link to course facebooks is located on each professors web biography page. Request an updated course facebook here.

Email Listservs
A listserv is an automated e-mail list and distribution system. When an e-mail message is addressed to a listserv mailing list, it is automatically broadcast to everyone on the list. Request a listserv here.

Library Reserves
Course Reserve material is available in print format from the Law Library Circulation Desk or it can be accessed electronically. All scannable material placed on Course Reserve is made available in electronic format. The electronic documents are accessed through MARQCAT either under the professor's name or the course name. Electronic materials are designated "Electronic Reserve" in the location box. Links are also create on the corresponding professor's course page. Scanning & OCR

The Media and Technology Group provides scanning and optical character recognition services to faculty and staff. Documents can be scanned and converted into editable text. Scan & email services are available on selected Lanier copiers in Sensenbrenner Hall and Law Library. Users are able to use the copier as a scanner and email the scanned item as a pdf document. Contact the Media and Technology Group for more information.

Smart Classrooms

All classrooms in Sensenbrenner Hall are equiped with computers, projectors, document cameras, and DVD/VCR players. A complete list of classrooms and equipment is available here. To request portable equipment, please complete the Online Equipment Request Form. If you require special software for your classroom, please contact the Media and Technology Group.

Software

Antivirus software
McAfee Antivirus software (PC and Mac - free to students, faculty, and staff courtesy of Marquette University licensing). This software may be used on personal as well as University owned computers. It is installed on all University owned computers. You may download the software from the "campus downloads" section of CheckMarq.

Mircosoft Office
Campus licensing has changed for Office. The cost of the software is near $50 to buy a copy and have it installed on home office machines. Faculty and staff may contact the IT Helpdesk at helpdesk@marquette,edu or 288-7799 for that purchase. Adobe products also may be installed at home. Call the IT Services Help Desk at (414) 288-7799 to coordinate the signing of the home installation agreement and receive the media to install software on your secondary computer.

Securexam
The Law School has licensed the Securexam software. The software allows students to use laptops for in-class exams. The software disables all computer functions except the ability to type exam answers. The files are encrypted and once closed cannot be opened for editing, they may only be printed. Contact mulawtech@marquette.edu for a demonstration of Securexam. If you would like to use Securexam in your class, contact Associate Dean Rofes, peter.rofes@marquette.edu.

Virtual Private Network
The VPN or Virtual Private Network allows you to access library databases and campus-restricted websites from home. In order to access the Campus Files System from off campus, you must install the VPN software. Download the software from the "campus downloads" section of CheckMarq. More information is available here.

Wordperfect
The Law School has licensed WordPerfect for faculty to use in their offices and at home. Please contact the Media and Technology Group for more information.
