Marquette University Law School offers a variety of audio/visual equipment for students to checkout. Digital recording equipment (video, audio, photo) is available for Law Student use. Students must complete the
Online Equipment Request Form to reserve equipment. Individual instruction is available; just contact the
Law School Media and Technology Group.
The Law Library has a limited number of laptops that may be checked out from 4 to 48 hours. Wireless network cards may also be checked out for use with a personal laptop for 24 hours. On the second floor (middle stacks) there is a TV with a DVD player and a TV with a VCR that are available for up to 4 hours. The remote can be checked out from the circulation desk.
Buying a Computer
Marquette University does not require that law students purchase a laptop, however, it is recommended. The Law School and the Law Library offer wireless internet access throughout the entire building. Some the University's vendors offer substantial discounts on hardware and software. Data Storage / Desire2Learn
Students are able to store up to 70MB of data in their D2L locker. Students may access this data from any location with Internet access. D2L information can be found on the
College of Communications website.
Smart Study Rooms
The law library also has two smart study rooms that include a plasma TV, DVD/VCR player, and audio/visual/computer hook-ups. These rooms work great for practicing presentations. These rooms are designed for the use of law students engaged in group projects and study. Groups of two or more law students may reserve a Study Room at the Circulation Desk.
Software
Antivirus softwareMcAfee Antivirus software (PC and Mac - free to students courtesy of Marquette University licensing). Students may download the software from the "campus downloads" section of
CheckMarq.
Mircosoft Office
Students are able to purchase Microsoft Office at a significant discount through the Microsoft website. More information is available here.
PrintWise
PrintWise is the campus-wide network printing solution. Students are allocated $14/year in printing (200 black & white pages). There are 4 black & white and 1 color PrintWise stations in the Law Library. More information and the PrintWise software is available here.
Securexam
Students enrolled in selected courses will have the opportunity to use their own computers to write examinations. To participate, student laptops must meet the minimum requirements, and Securexam must be installed.
Virtual Private Network
The VPN or Virtual Private Network allows you to access library databases and campus-restricted websites from home. Students may download the software from the "campus downloads" section of CheckMarq.
Wireless Access
The Law School and the Law Library offer wireless Internet access throughout the entire building. To access
MU_Wireless your personal laptop must have a wireless network card that is properly configured.
