The registry needs to be restored to its true intent.
The registry is diluted with non-violent and non-dangerous offenders.
Many offenders are on the registry for a consensual sex act with their girlfriend. The registry has grown two-fold and will continue to cost taxpayers money.
The focus should be on those offenders who are at risk of re-offending.
The focus should be on those that have committed a violent crime against a child or another human being.
The Adam Walsh Act is a form of Communism, as it places offenders on a tier bas1s according to their offense. There are no circumstances of the offense to consider.
There is a need to protect society and especially our children, but the whole sex offender registry, restrictions and requirements have gotten out of hand.
Offenders of lesser offenses such as the Romeo's are paying the price for the John Couey's of the world.
John Couey's will never be on the registry, they will forever be incarcerated; his type of offense involved MURDER, not just sexual abuse, but MURDER!
The Adam Walsh Act was hurriedly implemented in the state of Ohio and will cost the state of Ohio more money than what the Byrne grant will provide. This statistic is a fact.
The Act is well intended, but was not well thought out.
The A.W.A. has created more problems than it is worth.

Thw Walsh Act is an abomination and should be repealed. The states that HAVE tried to comply have found a myriad of problems. First off, the number of Tier 3 or so-called "high risk" registrants crew to around 80% overnight as a result of how the Walsh Act classifies people. In the midst of our recession, thee states are shelling out millions to change the registries to comply with the Walsh Act. And they still haven't instituted GPS, civil commitment, mandatory minimums, and the national child abuse registry, among other provisions of this act. The Walsh Act is a disaster waiting to happen.
