In fact that occurred to me as soon as the "beer summit" was announced. Despite the ways it could have been done better, I rejoice at the fact that bringing apparent adversaries together to share their viewpoints and experiences, and work out their differences, is our President's first instinct. That is something to build on, in the face of the instinctive response of too many to seek retribution. To be truly restorative, Whalen should have been invited to participate. Unfortunately, at least initially, Ms. Whalen became a pariah, for only doing what she thought was right. One has to be accommodating and inclusive in order to reap restorative benefits. What's more, a true "Beer Summit" ought to be held in Milwaukee! I agree with Professor Boyden. 'The one person whose actions were exemplary will be at work tomorrow here in Cambridge.'"
