DESCRIPTION
Substance aside, what makes some writing simply better than others? As attorneys, we read and write daily. Some writing is effortless and enjoyable to read, while other writing is a tiresome chore to work through. We are often exposed to the good, the bad, and the ugly. Yet it is often difficult to pin down why some briefs read better than others. And, when writing our own briefs, it is even more difficult to spot our own weaknesses. This CLE will highlight things to watch for on the small-scale level (paragraphs, sentences, and word choice) that may be bogging down your own writing. The CLE will provide tips and techniques that will help sharpen dull writing, make it more concise and precise, improve its flow, and make it more enjoyable for judges to read.
