America's imprisonment rate has quintupled since the mid-1970s, reaching levels today that are unprecedented in the western world. Although mass incarceration has been a nationwide phenomenon, different states have been affected quite differently. This presentation examines mass incarceration in Indiana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, highlighting important differences among these three medium-sized Midwestern states.
