anniversary of Charles Dickens\u2019 birth.\u00a0 As the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2012\/02\/06\/opinion\/dickens-v-lawyers.html?_r=1\">New York Times notes<\/a><\/em>,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe can rejoice that so many of the evils he assailed with his beautiful, ferocious quill \u2013 dismal debtors\u2019 prisons, barefoot urchin labor, an indifferent nobility \u2013 have happily been reformed into oblivion.\u00a0 But one form of wickedness he decried haunts us still, proud and unrepentant:\u00a0 the lawyer.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Dickens included lawyers in 11 of his 15 novels.\u00a0 Perhaps they made so many appearances because he was enmeshed in England\u2019s legal system.\u00a0 According the <em>New York Times, <\/em>at 15 Dickens was hired as an \u201cattorney\u2019s clerk\u201d and later became a court reporter.\u00a0 \u201cFor three formative years he was surrounded by law students, law clerks, copying clerks, court clerks, magistrates, barristers and solicitors . . . .\u201d\u00a0 And for a time, he was a law student.\u00a0 One scholar has framed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldcat.org\/wcpa\/top3mset\/485287\">Dickens as a legal historian<\/a> and another has written <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Lawyers-Dickens-Their-Clerks\/dp\/1584770910\">a book<\/a> that examines Dickens\u2019 portrayal of lawyers and others in the legal system.<\/p>\n<p>In honor of Dickens\u2019 birth and his ties to our profession, please share your favorite Dickens
