The conference is titled \u201cDoing It Our Way\u201d: Learning from Our Programmatic Differences and Similarities. Approximately 170 faculty representing 99 schools are attending. Just before the conference is an Innovative Teaching Workshop, and after the conference the Legal Writing Institute (<a href=\"http:\/\/lwionline.org\/\">LWI<\/a>) is hosting a writers\u2019 workshop in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>ALWD is an organization whose mission is to<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>pursue activities such as the following to help law schools provide excellent legal writing instruction:<\/p>\n<p>1. Supporting the administration of legal writing programs,<br \/>\n2. Enhancing the leadership skills and professional development of legal writing professionals,<br \/>\n3. Encouraging and supporting research and scholarship in, and development of, the discipline of legal writing, and<br \/>\n4. Advocating on behalf of the discipline within the academy and the legal profession.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>ALWD\u00a0fulfills its mission through a number of initiatives in addition to the biennial conference. ALWD\u00a0publishes the ALWD\u00a0Citation Manual and the Legal Communication &amp; Rhetoric: JALWD. ALWD\u00a0and LWI\u00a0conduct an annual survey of the field of legal writing. ALWD\u00a0also funds scholarships, together with LWI\u00a0and LexisNexis, to legal writing educators. In addition to funding, grant recipients may be paired with a mentor. ALWD\u00a0awards the Thomas F.
