<a href=\"http:\/\/thewildlife.wbur.org\/2015\/01\/13\/pet-csi-how-dog-and-cat-dna-nabs-bad-guys\/\">public radio show<\/a> discusses, DNA from pets is increasingly being used to help solve crimes.\u00a0 Investigators can take DNA samples found at a crime scene, such as hair, and have it tested to match a victim&#8217;s pet.\u00a0 A match can link a\u00a0perpetrator to the crime if, for instance, the DNA of the victim&#8217;s pet shows up on the assailant&#8217;s clothes.\u00a0 As\u00a0noted on the show, the field of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vgl.ucdavis.edu\/forensics\/faq.php\">veterinary forensics<\/a> is growing, and while the DNA testing is expensive, it can make a big difference in solving a case.\u00a0 In addition to animal DNA, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.denverda.org\/DNA\/DNA_Nonhuman.htm\">plant DNA and viral DNA<\/a> has also been used in criminal
