Court, Congress, and President"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My colleague Paul Secunda recently wrote this pointed\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.todaysworkplace.org\/2008\/09\/02\/the-importance-of-fair-pay-this-labor-day\/\">essay<\/a> on the Supreme Court&#8217;s <em>Ledbetter <\/em>decision for the Workplace Fairness Blog.\u00a0 <em>Ledbetter <\/em>made it harder for plaintiffs\u00a0with Title VII pay discrimination claims to prevail by holding that the statute of limitations runs separately on\u00a0each of a series of\u00a0discriminatory pay decisions, even though the cumulative effects of\u00a0the decisions may continue to be felt for many years thereafter.\u00a0 Paul argues in his essay that\u00a0<em>Ledbetter<\/em> is &#8220;absurd&#8221; inasmuch as it requires some victims of discrimination to file their claims\u00a0before they have a fair opportunity to discern the\u00a0discrimination.\u00a0 He urges Congress to pass a pending legislative fix, the Lilly Ledbetter Pay Equity Act, and notes that the issue is one that divides the current Republican and
