With a view into Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan, we could\u00a0all see the importance of geography.<\/p>\n<p>Student Nicholas Sinram shares his experience:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>One of the many great experiences on our International Conflict Resolution trip to Israel was our visit to Har Bental. \u00a0In addition to the salmon bagel lunch\u00a0and the Druze fig jam, our excursion to Har Bental gave us the chance to\u00a0experience the beauty and importance of the region. \u00a0The visit to Har Bental also gave us the unique opportunity to\u00a0learn more about the conflicts throughout the Middle East, the role of the international community in the region,\u00a0and how this\u00a0situation affects Israel specifically. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-24418 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/law.marquette.edu\/facultyblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/golan-picture-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"golan-picture\" width=\"281\" height=\"211\" srcset=\"https:\/\/law.marquette.edu\/facultyblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/golan-picture-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/law.marquette.edu\/facultyblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/golan-picture-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/law.marquette.edu\/facultyblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/golan-picture-900x675.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 281px) 100vw, 281px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We had the amazing luck of running into\u00a0two U.N. observers. They\u00a0explained the roles of U.N. peacekeepers and observers. <!--more-->They also\u00a0shared their experiences,\u00a0and\u00a0perspectives on the situation in Syria and the Middle East in general.<\/p>\n<p>On our return trip from Har Bental, we saw the importance of the\u00a0northern region to Israel, both in terms of agricultural\u00a0production\u00a0and\u00a0also the use and\u00a0control of the region\u2019s\u00a0precious water. \u00a0We also had the pleasure of experiencing the region\u2019s agricultural products first hand in the form of a quick wine tasting. \u00a0Our visit to Har Bental was one of the best experiences of our trip. \u00a0In addition to the good food, wine, and company, we had the amazing\u00a0opportunity\u00a0to learn about the region\u00a0and the conflict that\u00a0plagues\u00a0it,\u00a0all\u00a0from the comfort of a hilltop cafe near Har Bental [cleverly named Coffee Anon for those who follow the UN closely].<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After our visit at Tzfat, we took a short bus ride into the northern hills to visit Har Bental, a lookout point on the edge of the\u00a0Golan Heights.
