{"id":28355,"date":"2019-04-04T14:22:04","date_gmt":"2019-04-04T19:22:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/law.marquette.edu\/facultyblog\/?p=28355"},"modified":"2021-07-05T16:54:05","modified_gmt":"2021-07-05T21:54:05","slug":"remembering-professor-ray-klitzke","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/law.marquette.edu\/facultyblog\/2019\/04\/remembering-professor-ray-klitzke\/","title":{"rendered":"Remembering Professor Ray Klitzke"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/law.marquette.edu\/facultyblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/1986850.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-28356\" src=\"http:\/\/law.marquette.edu\/facultyblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/1986850-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"Headshot photo of Professor Ray Klitzke wearing a suit and tie.\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/law.marquette.edu\/facultyblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/1986850-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/law.marquette.edu\/facultyblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/1986850.jpg 233w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a>The Marquette Law School community was saddened to learn of the death March 29 of Emeritus Professor of Law Ramon (&#8220;Ray&#8221;) Klitzke.\u00a0 He was 90 years old.<\/p>\n<p>Named by his mother after silent screen star Ramon Novarro, Ray had ramrod straight posture and an athletic build.\u00a0\u00a0He was a competitive swimmer and diver throughout his life.\u00a0 He cut a dashing figure in the hallways of Sensenbrenner Hall, not unlike his namesake.<\/p>\n<p>Ray was a devoted teacher and scholar.\u00a0\u00a0Ray also served the Wisconsin State Bar in a variety of capacities during his career, serving at various times as Reporter for the Local Government Section, Reporter for the Administrative Law Section and Chairman of the\u00a0 Patent, Trademark &amp; Copyright Section.\u00a0 During Ray&#8217;s tenure as a full time faculty member, I doubt that there was a single Annual Meeting of the Wisconsin State Bar that did not include Ray on the agenda in some form, usually as a presenter providing an update on recent legal developments in his field.<\/p>\n<p>Ray retired from the Marquette Law School faculty in 1994.<\/p>\n<p>I valued Ray as a friend, as a colleague, and as a valuable contributor to the Wisconsin legal community.\u00a0 He leaves his wife Doris, his children Ramon, Albert and Ann and their spouses, and an extended family of grandchildren and great grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>Services will be held tomorrow April 5 at Saint John&#8217;s Lutheran Church in Brookfield.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchandchapel.com\/obituary\/Ramon-Ray-Arthur-William-Klitzke\/Waukesha-Wisconsin\/1841045\">More information about Ray&#8217;s life, the\u00a0visitation and services is available here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Marquette Law School community was saddened to learn of the death March 29 of Emeritus Professor of Law Ramon (&#8220;Ray&#8221;) Klitzke.\u00a0 He was 90 years old.
