{"id":6372,"date":"2009-07-30T13:29:56","date_gmt":"2009-07-30T18:29:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/law.marquette.edu\/facultyblog\/?p=6372"},"modified":"2009-07-30T14:26:43","modified_gmt":"2009-07-30T19:26:43","slug":"lawyer-in-your-living-room","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/law.marquette.edu\/facultyblog\/2009\/07\/lawyer-in-your-living-room\/","title":{"rendered":"Lawyer in Your Living Room"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-6373\" title=\"davidPapke\" src=\"http:\/\/law.marquette.edu\/facultyblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/davidPapke-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"davidPapke\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>I enjoyed serving on \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.abajournal.com\/magazine\/the_25_greatest_legal_tv_shows_the_jury\">the jury<\/a>\u201d chosen by the American Bar Association to pick the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abajournal.com\/magazine\/the_25_greatest_legal_tv_shows\">top 25 law shows during the history of prime-time television<\/a>.\u00a0 Our list and sketches of the shows just appeared in the August, 2009 <em>ABA Journal<\/em>.\u00a0 I was pleased but surprised that \u201cThe Defenders,\u201d a fine series from the early 1960s ranked third.\u00a0 The other top series \u2013 \u201cL.A. Law,\u201d \u201cPerry Mason,\u201d and \u201cLaw &amp; Order\u201d \u2013 are not only great law shows but also milestones in the history of entertainment television.\u00a0 Meanwhile, I\u2019m not sure \u201cLaw &amp; Order: Criminal Intent\u201d and \u201cLaw &amp; Order: Special Victims Unit\u201d deserve their places on the list.\u00a0 I enjoy both, but they seem to me police procedurals rather than law shows.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">If anyone is curious, here\u2019s the full list:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u201cL.A.
