\"sl0012\"<\/a>Student organizations<\/a> enrich a law student’s experience.\u00a0 Whether it is bringing in practitioners to discuss the practice of law or bringing in scholars to debate important legal issues, student organizations\u2014and the events they sponsor\u2014help law students think about the law.\u00a0 To be successful and to produce successful lawyers, a law school should encourage students to think about the law outside the classroom.\u00a0 It is outside the classroom where a student may pursue the law in more depth and choose a topic that is important and interesting to him or her.<\/p>\n

Joining a student organization is a great way for a student to get involved while at Marquette Law School.\u00a0 Joining gives a student the opportunity to become friends with other students who have similar interests, and it is a great way to meet lawyers and scholars in your field of interest.\u00a0 In other words, it is a great way to network, which is so critical to becoming a successful lawyer.\u00a0 Taking on a leadership role within a student organization gives students the opportunity to become leaders and earn the respect of their peers and professors.<\/p>\n

While student organizations are only as good as the students who participate, professors are an essential part of ensuring that student organizations are successful.\u00a0 Professors can provide institutional knowledge, make event suggestions, and help develop the organization.\u00a0 Without a professor willing to help provide some continuity from year to year, a student organization will likely come and go.<\/p>\n

In short, a student organization is an important part of law school and now is a great time to get involved.\u00a0 Either contact the current leadership of an organization that interests you or become the leadership if the organization does not currently have any leaders.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
