\"danfreed\"I was saddened today to learn that\u00a0my dear mentor, Professor Dan Freed of Yale Law School, is dying.\u00a0 I wrote a post about Dan <\/a>on this blog some time ago.\u00a0 Although word has just been getting out today,\u00a0tributes and farewell messages to Dan are\u00a0already starting to pour into\u00a0this website<\/a>.\u00a0 It is amazing to read what a profound influence he had on so many people.\u00a0 One line particularly caught my eye, from Professor Frank Bowman of Missouri:<\/p>\n

Most importantly, I want to say that there are innumerable \u201cprofessors\u201d in American graduate education, but there are only a bare handful of teachers. You are one.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
