Battered Women Kill . . ."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Do feminist concerns regarding violence against women justify expanding the self-protection defense in criminal law?\u00a0 This was the topic of the second annual George and Margaret Barrock Lecture on Criminal Law, which was delivered\u00a0Thursday afternoon\u00a0by Professor Joshua Dressler of Ohio State.\u00a0 Dressler left no doubt about where he stands on the issue: whether motivated by domestic-violence concerns or otherwise,\u00a0recent proposals to\u00a0expand the right to use deadly force\u00a0are inconsistent with a\u00a0due regard for the value of human life.\u00a0\u00a0To be clear, Dressler\u00a0would not deny the right to use deadly force\u00a0when a woman\u00a0is actually being attacked or threatened &#8212; his\u00a0focus is more on cases in which a sleeping\u00a0or\u00a0otherwise nonthreatening batterer is killed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The webcast of\u00a0Dressler&#8217;s provocative lecture is\u00a0available
