The Cunningham & Mears Academic Scholarship is an annual award of $2,500, presented by the firm, to a student who wishes to pursue the study of History or Law. The successful candidate must be enrolled in, or have proof of upcoming enrollment in, an accredited college, university, or law school for the upcoming academic school year. The scholarship can be paid directly to the institution upon the request of the student.

Scholarship amount: $2,500

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must submit the following information in order to be considered eligible for the scholarship:

  • Proof of enrollment in the institution
  • A statement of financial need
  • 1 letter of recommendation from someone familiar with your academic work
  • An essay of no more than 1000 words about why you chose to study History or Law
  • Applicants must fill out the form found here

We are currently accepting applications for the 2019 scholarship award. All applications must be completed and submitted in full by June 15, 2019 in order to be eligible for consideration. The award winner will be announced July 15, 2019.

Indian Law Section Legal Education Scholarship -- $1,000

The Indian Law Section (ILS) of the State Bar of Wisconsin was created in part to bring together those who have a special interest in Indian Law. In order to foster this interest, the ILS intends to award a scholarship to a deserving third-year law student who intends to practice Indian Law in the state of Wisconsin. The award for the 2019-20 school year will be $1,000. Future year award amounts are subject to change based upon student interest and ILS resources. 

Applications must be postmarked no later than May 31, 2019 midnight central time. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. The recipient will be notified by mid-June and will be formally recognized at the Annual Indian Law Section CLE.

  1. Cover Letter/Personal Statement Detailing:
    a. Commitment to Practice Indian Law in Wisconsin Upon Graduation;

    c. Involvement in Indian Law-Related Activities (including student and community organizations, and civic, charitable, legal or social justice endeavors).
  2. Law School Transcript
  3. Two (2) Letters of Recommendation (Professional and/or Academic) Supporting Applicant’s Interest as an Indian Law Practitioner/Advocate.

Summer Locker Requests

Students taking summer classes can sign up for a summer locker by completing this form. To ensure students receive their summer locker assignment by May 13, which is the date they need to have their academic year locker cleaned out by, students should submit the form by Thursday, May 9.

May 2019 graduates who need to extend their access to Eckstein Hall in order to finish up law school business or prepare for a bar exam should not complete this form to reserve a locker, but instead read the Summer Access to Eckstein Hall for May Graduates Law News posting.

Lost and Found Items

Have you lost a water bottle, travel mug, jewelry, sunglasses, car keys, etc.? We would like to reunite you with your items. Between April 29 and May 9, lost items will be placed on a table in the Student Organization Suite (342) for you to pick up. Anything that has not been claimed by May 10 will be donated.

If you are missing an item of value (jewelry, glasses, keys, etc.), please stop by 244B, between 8:30am – 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday.
