Sports Law Speaker Series: Anne Wall, Pettit National Ice Center & Jan Doleschal, Janis Dolechal, Sports Law Consultant, Start Playing Safe

On Thursday, September 28, 2017, at 12 pm, as part of the Sports Law Speaker Series, National Sports Law Institute Board of Advisors' members Anne Wall and Jan Doleschal, will visit the law school to speak with law students.  Anne has a long career in Olympic sport, ranging from currently serving as corporate secretary and a member of the Executive Committee for the Pettit National Ice Center, to formerly serving as Brand Protection Advisor to the International Paralympic Committee and International Olympic Committee (recommended reading Intellectual Property Protection in China: Enforcing Trademark Rights, 17 Marq. Sports L. Rev. 341 (2006), The Game Behind the Games, 12 Marq. Sports L. Rev. 557 (2002), Sports Marketing and the Law: Protecting Proprietary Interests in Sports Entertainment Events, 7 Marq. Sports L. J. 77 (1996)).  Jan's career has focused on youth and high school sport as she is the former Commissioner for Sport for the Milwaukee Public Schools, a member of the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame and Wisconsin Athletic Directors Hall of Fame, and is currently a sports law risk consultant working with high schools through her organization Start Playing Safe (recommended reading Managing Risk in Interscholastic Athletic Programs: 14 Legal Duties of Care, 17 Marq. Sports L. Rev. 295 (2006) ​. 

Anne and Janis will also introduce 2 new writing competitions and 1 award open Marquette Sports Law Program students starting in the fall 2017 semester.  Lunch will be provided to all attendees.
