St. Marcus Lutheran School Superintendent Henry Tyson — He describes himself as a “wild optimist.” A native of Great Britain, Henry Tyson has made the education of central city kids in Milwaukee his life’s work. Tyson runs St. Marcus, a school on the near north side that serves predominantly low-income and minority students. St. Marcus is one of the biggest success stories in the school voucher program. Test scores for St. Marcus students are well above average for Milwaukee and close to the statewide average. So why does St. Marcus work, and what can we learn from it? Join us for a conversation about urban education, when Superintendent Henry Tyson visits the Law School.
