Registration will begin tomorrow, November 11. As a reminder, when a class is full, adding yourself to the waitlist will allow you to potentially be added to the class should space become available. Follow these steps to add yourself to the waitlist successfully and avoid being skipped:
Accessing the waitlist form.
- At your assigned registration appointment time, if a desired course is full, you can add your name to the Law School’s registration waitlist by visiting the Registration Materials webpage of the Law School’s website and clicking on the appropriate semester’s waitlist form button.
- You may only fill out this form after your registration time has started. Submissions made prior to your appointment time will be deleted.
Editing your waitlist form after submission.
- To later edit your waitlist request after submission, you must click the “Save my response to edit” button that appears on your browser screen immediately following submission. We STRONGLY recommend that every student select this option each time you submit a waitlist form to preserve the ability to edit your form in the future.
- Clicking this button will allow you to update your selections as seats become available and your schedule or interests shift.
Waitlists will be processed weekly.
- It is important that, as needed, you view and edit all your waitlist forms to ensure that they are accurate and up-to-date. The information you provide will be used to move your classes should a seat in a waitlisted course open up for you. You will be notified once you have been added to a course.
- If you receive an email indicating that there is an issue with your request, you must respond to the email within 48 business hours to resolve the enrollment issue. If you do not respond, the class seat will be offered to the next student on the waitlist, but you will not lose your spot on the waitlist.
- Do not reach out to faculty to be added to a course prior to the start of the semester. Faculty will have discretion to add students to their classes once the semester begins and waitlists are cleared. Prior to that, students MUST be added in order of the waitlist.
- If you no longer wish to be on a class waitlist, please be sure to delete your request to avoid unwanted changes to your schedule.
Viewing your waitlist position. After registration, you will receive periodic emails that indicate where you are on each waitlist and what, if any, movement has occurred on the waitlist.
Contact: Nicole Toerpe MasonAcademic Regulation Prohibiting Artificial Intelligence Use
As final projects and exams approach, the Law School Judicial Committee wishes to remind students that Academic Regulation 901(2) defines “cheating” to include “[u]sing artificial intelligence writing programs, chatbots, or similar AI-driven technologies not authorized by the course instructor in taking an examination, test, or quiz, or in preparing any assignment for any class in the Law School or University,” Law School Academic Regulations, Section 901(2) (emphasis added). The regulation further states that “[u]sing legal research databases or other research tools utilizing artificial intelligence technologies to conduct research does not come within this meaning unless such use is restricted by the course instructor.” Id.
Using AI in violation of Section 901(2) is a serious offense and can lead to suspension or even expulsion, depending on the facts involved. Students may view summaries of corrective actions for past violations of the Academic Regulations on the Law School’s Corrective Action webpage. Students should understand that, like in the legal profession itself, future cases of improper AI use may be met with harsher corrective actions than the corrective actions recommended in early past cases. If a student is unsure of whether artificial intelligence is authorized on any course work, the student should check with the course instructor prior to using such technology.

Course evaluations have been distributed to professors and will be administered over the remaining weeks of classes. A few reminders and updates for our students:
- Upper-level students will notice the evaluation form looks slightly different than past years. While the format may be new, the content is the same. The only substantive change is that this new form may be filled out with pencil or pen. Pencils will no longer be included in the evaluation envelopes, so please ensure that you have a writing implement with you.
- If you are filling out an evaluation in pen and fill out the wrong bubble, please place an "x" through the bubble you did not intend to mark.
- Completed evaluation forms may be returned to the 238 suite. If your class ends after 5:00 p.m., please return completed envelopes to the Welcome Desk.
Thank you for your assistance in this important end-of-semester task!
