1L/2L Volunteer Opportunity: Law School Graduation

Law School Hooding & Commencement: Saturday, May 18

The Office of Student Affairs is looking for a few student volunteers to help out with our Hooding & Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 18. There are two shifts available, and we would welcome students helping with both if possible. Both shifts build in some training time, but there is also a Volunteer Meeting via Teams on Thursday, May 16, at noon to go over instructions and assignments before the day of the event.

  • Location: Miller High Life Theatre
  • Dress code: darker, neutral business professional clothing, easy to move and stand in but professional given the gravitas of the event.
  • Graduation website

Pre-Ceremony Setup (2 spots available): 10:00 a.m.–12:15 p.m.

  • Assisting with setting up the details of the stage, theatre, and staging rooms
  • Some moving of chairs/tables/signs, mostly labeling and setting out items

Ceremony Assistance (6 spots available): 12:15–4:30 p.m.

  • Training and run-through of duties
  • Acting as greeters and ushers for guests coming into and leaving the theatre
  • Acting as ushers to guide graduates during the ceremony
  • We anticipate that we should be done closer to 4:00 p.m., but you should be easily out of there at the latest, 4:30 p.m.
    • You would be welcome to join the post-ceremony reception if you choose.

It’s been a great way to see what the graduation ceremony looks like as well as get to send off and congratulate your 3L friends. If you are interested or have questions, please contact Sarah DiStefano, assistant director of student affairs.
