Please congratulate third-year law students Lauren Brasington and Carsyn Bushman for their success at the final rounds of the National Moot Court Competition (NMCC), co-hosted by the American College of Trial Lawyers and the New York City Bar Association and held virtually this year. The team was capably coached by Attorneys Kieran O’Day and Evan Thomsen.
This year, the team advanced from the preliminary rounds to the octofinal round. This is an impressive accomplishment, as the competition involves more than 180 law schools and over 1000 law students each year. 28 teams competed at nationals this year. Our team advanced to nationals as finalists at the region 8 round of competition, which is hosted at Marquette Law School (virtually in 2021). This is not the first time a Marquette team has advanced to the nationals, and we are proud to continue that tradition.
In these photos, the team is holding their region 8 medals.
The team put in countless hours of brief writing and oral argument practice time. They have a bright future!
Congratulations to Carsyn and Lauren!
I’d also like to congratulate 3Ls Alicia Bernards and Christopher Vandeventer, who also competed in the NMCC Regionals in November and reached the octofinals before they were eliminated. Chris was tied for fifth best oralist in the region.
