The General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) is a diverse and supportive network of women in all fifty states and in more than a dozen other countries, with more than 60,000 members worldwide. GFWC is dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. GFWC has helped women improve their communities and expand their own opportunities since 1890 and remains one of the strongest and most influential women's colunteer service organizations in the country.

The GFWC/Iowa Federation of Women's Clubs is the proud sponsor of the Phyllis Hughes Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 for a woman studying Law in her first, second or third year of the year. The scholarship is nonrenewable, awarded only once to each winner.

The applicant must be a woman from Iowa and attending one of only three law schools, including Marquette. Scholarship awards are based on volunteerism, leadership, achievement and financial need, in that order.
