The Health Law Society invites all students to attend a lunchtime panel exploring the many ways attorneys can work in the healthcare field. From representing healthcare systems and providers to serving in-house within healthcare organizations, this event will highlight the diverse and evolving opportunities available in health law.

Jon Wertz – Director of Risk Management, Medical College of Wisconsin
Jon Wertz serves as Director of Risk Management at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he developed standard operating procedures for assessing and responding to threats directed at over 2,000 healthcare providers. He is a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals and has been involved in developing healthcare threat management training since 2014, frequently speaking on workplace violence in healthcare settings at both the local and national level. Prior to his current role, Jon practiced litigation at Michael Best & Friedrich, LLP, and began his career as a registered nurse in the emergency department and ICU at Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee.
Jonah DeBeir – GE HealthCare (Quality and Regulatory Leadership Program)
Jonah DeBeir is an attorney with GE HealthCare, where he works in the Quality and Regulatory Leadership Program focusing on regulatory compliance within the healthcare industry. A recent graduate of Marquette University Law School, Jonah has built a strong foundation in health law through internships with organizations including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Medical College of Wisconsin. His experience spans public health law, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
Scott J. Geboy – Health Care Attorney
Scott J. Geboy is an experienced health care attorney whose practice focuses on the complex regulatory landscape governing healthcare systems and providers. His work includes federal tax exemption, Stark self-referral regulations, federal anti-kickback laws, and Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement. Scott regularly advises clients on compliance, billing, physician relationships, and compensation arrangements, and has represented healthcare organizations in investigations by the HHS Office of Inspector General and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. He also works on emerging issues in telehealth and telemedicine and frequently speaks on healthcare compliance and regulatory topics.
Stephane P. Fabus – Health Care Attorney (Privacy & Data Security)
Stephane P. Fabus focuses her practice on helping healthcare clients navigate patient privacy and data security requirements at both the state and federal level, including HIPAA, 42 C.F.R. Part 2, and the Information Blocking Rule. She advises clients on responding to patient complaints, government investigations, and privacy and security breaches, and has experience negotiating business associate agreements and data sharing arrangements. Stephane also assists organizations in assessing compliance by developing policies and procedures and drafting key documentation.
