Thomas Petri and David Obey, former U.S. Representatives

Republican Tom Petri represented Wisconsin’s Fox Valley in Congress for 35 years. Democrat Dave Obey represented northern Wisconsin for 42 years. These days, Petri and Obey are touring Wisconsin, with the goal of bridging our state’s partisan divide. As Obey put it last spring, “Tom and I are from an era where it was not a mortal sin to have a friend across the table.” During this visit to the Law School, the Republican and Democrat will share the lessons they learned from decades of public service. They’ll also discuss what works in Washington and the importance of civic participation.
