Carl Hulse—chief Washington correspondent, The New York Times, author of Confirmation Bias: Inside Washington’s War Over the Supreme Court, from Scalia’s Death to Justice Kavanaugh (HarperCollins 2019)
Carl Hulse knows Washington. He’s spent three decades reporting on events in the nation’s capital, serving as Washington editor for The Times as well as the newspaper’s chief congressional correspondent. His new book, Confirmation Bias, details the events that followed the death of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia in 2016. It’s a story of political intrigue that culminates with the explosive Senate confirmation hearing for then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. We’ll talk with Hulse about his book and about events in Washington when he visits Eckstein Hall later this month.
