Please join us on September 18 as we continue the series at Marquette Law School’s Lubar Center for Public Policy Research and Civic Education, “Get to Know,” with a new “Face of the Case” program. Derek Mosley, director of the Lubar Center, will welcome James Obergefell, the named plaintiff in the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case, Obergefell v. Hodges (2015), which ruled that the Constitution guarantees a right to marry for same-sex couples.
Supreme Court cases are routinely referred to by name, yet it is easy to forget that the names are those of real people. This new “Face of the Case” series is an attempt to showcase the people behind the cases. Mr. Obergefell, who lives in Ohio, is the co-founder of Equality Vines, a producer, and a published author. Learn about how Mr. Obergefell became a party in the historic case, his commitment to supporting equality organizations, and his dedication to love and dignity.
As Director Mosley has explained, the “Get to Know” series is intended to be “more late-night talk show than Meet the Press.” The program will begin promptly at 12:15 p.m. and last an hour. It will include lunch, conversation, and community in Eckstein Hall.
