Join us on January 21 for “On the Issues: Data Centers: Pitfalls or Possibilities?”

Wisconsin’s number of data centers is on the rise. According to datacentermap.com, there are now 47 centers in the state. As communities navigate the impacts of this rapid growth, basic questions arise: What exactly are data centers, what purposes do they serve, and how do they affect Wisconsin’s economy and environment?

Lubar Center Director Derek Mosley will moderate a discussion with:

  • Rebecca Gries, executive director of Milwaukee 7
  • Claudia Levens, local communities reporter for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
  • Michael Zimmer, professor of computer science and director of the Center for Data, Ethics and Society at Marquette University.

The program begins promptly at 12:15 p.m. in Eckstein Hall. Please register to attend. A light lunch will be served.
