On Thursday, February 19th, the Sports Law Speaker Series will feature a group of alums who work in the athlete agency, NIL and sports law field, often while maintaining a law practice. These alums will discuss their careers and career paths, participation in the Sports Law Program, and provide advice for students who are interested in working as agents/sports lawyers. Joshua M. Frieser, Esq. is a sports business lawyer and Principal Attorney at Frieser Legal. His practice is focused on the representation of athletes, agents, sponsors, and sports businesses. While working to solve the unique legal needs that they have, Josh represents athletes in eligibility and disciplinary proceedings and NIL licensing agreements, as well as in related intellectual property and business planning matters. In addition to serving as counsel to college and professional athletes, Josh represents sports agents and sports industry ventures as outside counsel. Josh also serves as a trusted advisor to sponsors working with athletes and sports properties.
Cody Hallowell is the Founder of 24/8 Sports, a boutique athlete representation firm he established in 2013 while serving as a student manager for UMass Basketball and earning his B.S. in Sports Management from the Mark H. McCormack Department of Sports Management at the Isenberg School of Management. He later earned his J.D. from Marquette University Law School (2018), completing certificates in Sports Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Cody has been an NBPA-certified player agent since 2018 and NCAA-certified agent since 2023, with experience representing basketball players in the G-League and overseas markets. His agency provides holistic representation—combining contract negotiation, career and human development, nonprofit/foundation advisory and more—often acting as general counsel to his clients’ broader ventures. In addition to co-founding the award-winning nonprofit STRYV365 in 2020, he serves on several nonprofit boards, including as Board Secretary for The 7uice Foundation (Jaylen Brown’s Foundation). Guided by a philosophy of authentic, trust-based relationships, Cody works with clients who share his commitment to mental wellness, community impact, and building productive, positive lives.
Christopher Kaminski is an attorney, football agent, & sports legal consultant, representing both professional and collegiate athletes. His clients have played in the NFL, XFL, AAF, and NCAA D1. He began his career as an attorney in general practice before transitioning into athlete representation. After a stint in client servicing with NFL athlete representation firm Sportstars NYC, he joined Leverage Agency in their Business Affairs & Sponsorship department. While there, he helped structure sports property sales for various sports leagues and professional teams. Consulting clients have included Cantwe11 Marketing, a soccer event marketing company; Wisconsin Figure Skating Club; and various athletic influencers/talent.
Matt Lowe graduated from Marquette in 2022. Upon graduation, Matt began working as a full time attorney while also preparing for the 2022 NFLPA Certified Contract Advisor exam. He became NFLPA certified in October 2022 and has since negotiated over $50 million of NFL contracts. In addition to agent work, Matt is a full time litigation associate at Kaman & Cusimano LLC.
