Please join us virtually on Friday, May 8 (11:00-noon CT), for “Wastewater to Wealth,” an event held in conjunction with Chicago Water Week presented by Current. David Strifling, director of Marquette Law School’s Water Law and Policy Initiative and associate professor of law, will discuss two of the Initiative’s recent research projects with relevance in Chicago and around the world. The projects concern transforming municipal wastewater treatment plants into the resource recovery facilities of the future, helping in the transition to a sustainable, circular economy. The conversation will explore a wastewater utility’s capacity for energy generation to satisfy its own electricity needs, as well as its production of nutrient-rich biosolids that are in demand as a fertilizer but that may also contain the harmful “forever chemicals” known as PFAS. The event is complimentary, but registration is required.
