Looking in the Wrong Place? Drug Prices, Generics, and the Supreme Court  by Marquette Law School Professor Karen Sandrik.

States across the country including Wisconsin are trying to lower prescription drug prices through new laws and oversight. But a case now before the U.S. Supreme Court could have an even bigger impact on what people pay at the pharmacy.

On April 29, the Court will hear argument in Hikma Pharmaceuticals v. Amarin Pharma, No. 24-889, a case that could change how quickly generic drugs reach the market. Because competition by generics is one of the biggest drivers of lower drug prices, the Court’s decision could affect prices nationwide.

In this timely program, Professor Karen Sandrik will break down what the case is about, why it matters, and what it could mean for drug prices going forward.

No patent law background needed—just curiosity about how the law shapes the cost of everyday medications.
