David Maraniss, author of Barack Obama: The Story, a biography of Barack Obama. The son of a newspaper editor who grew up in Madison, Maraniss is an associate editor at the Washington Post and a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist. He is also the author of five critically acclaimed and bestselling books, including When Pride Still Mattered: A Life of Vince Lombardi and First in His Class: A Biography of Bill Clinton. Maraniss’s newest work explores the early years of America’s current president, beginning well before Barack Obama was born and ending in 1988, when Obama was accepted into Harvard Law School. The New York Times calls the biography “revelatory,” while the Wall Street Journal praises Maraniss for his “exhaustively reported journey.” Maraniss will share what he learned from that journey when he visits the Law School.
