Milwaukee Department of City Development Commissioner Rocky Marcoux — What kind of city will Milwaukee be 10 or 20 years from now? As Commissioner of City Development, Rocky Marcoux has a lot to say about Milwaukee’s future. Marcoux has been the point-person for economic development efforts in the city since 2004. Today, nine years after taking the helm, Marcoux and his staff face a number of critical questions: Can successes like the redevelopment of the Menomonee Valley be replicated in other parts of the city? What can be done to help neighborhoods devastated by the foreclosure crisis? How do we create more new businesses and grow existing ones, and what should be done with some of Milwaukee’s most valuable real estate, including the Park East corridor and the eastern edge of downtown? A Marquette graduate and member of the Congress for the New Urbanism, Marcoux will offer his vision for Milwaukee during his visit to the Law School.
