Biography

Professor Julien joined the faculty in 2001 after practicing for five years at a law firm. Her practice focused on civil litigation and special education law. Before entering private practice, Professor Julien served as a law clerk to the Honorable Justin M. Johnson of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania. She co-authored the criminal law chapter of the 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000 editions of the Annual Survey of Wisconsin Law, and she and her co-author received the 2001 Charles Dunn Author Award from the State Bar of Wisconsin for their article Special Education Law: Not All Are Equal. Professor Julien is a member of the Association of Legal Writing Directors, and the Legal Writing Insitute.  She served as a  member of the Board of Directors of the Legal Writing Institute from July 2010-July 2018 and as secretary from 2010-2012. She teaches legal writing and research and advanced legal writing.
