Garet K. Galster is a registered patent attorney and a co-founding partner of Smith Keane LLP, a full-service intellectual property law firm located in Hartland, WI. Using as a foundation engineering and legal services provided to Fortune 500 companies, individuals, venture capitalists, start-up companies, and family businesses alike, he works with clients towards efficient and strategic IP management, assertion and defense; from concept through all levels of appeal.  Prior to law school, Garet worked for Motorola, Inc. as a video communications design engineer, in Austin, TX.

Garet received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and his Juris Doctor degree from Marquette University. While at Marquette University Law School, he served as a judicial intern for the late Honorable N. Patrick Crooks of the Wisconsin Supreme Court and as a research assistant to Professor Eric Goldman.

Representing clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Garet has prosecuted hundreds of patent applications, and he has litigated in Wisconsin state courts, U.S. federal district courts, and U.S. federal appellate courts.  Combining experience from efforts in engineering, administrative law, patent prosecution (in the U.S. and abroad), and litigation, his teaching theme focuses on practical instruction with resource guidance.
