Biography

Jason D. Luczak leads the criminal and white-collar defense team at Gimbel, Reilly, Guerin & Brown, LLP in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is a widely sought-after advocate for his experience and skills in handling high-profile, sensitive and serious cases. A combination of extensive jury trial knowledge paired with a tenacious approach has earned him a reputation as one of Wisconsin’s go-to trial lawyers. Luczak excels in maintaining a calm and cool approach during a crisis and is able to develop a forward-thinking strategy which he applies to a variety of practice areas, including criminal and white-collar defense, and related civil litigation in the state and federal courts, throughout Wisconsin.

Luczak has a track record of success at trials and appeals. He oversees an active appellate practice, which includes briefing and arguing appeals before the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Wisconsin Court of Appeals, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. He is licensed to practice law in Wisconsin and Illinois, as well as before the U.S. District Courts in Wisconsin, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

Luczak is dedicated to ensuring future generations of lawyers know the importance of developing strong trial skills through his teaching and mentorship. In addition to his law practice, Luczak is currently an adjunct professor of law, teaching trial advocacy, at Marquette University Law School. He has also mentored many up-and-coming trial lawyers while they navigate the early stages of their careers. He is so well respected in that capacity that he was honored as the mentor of the year by the State Bar of Wisconsin for his leadership and guidance of new trial lawyers. Luczak has been a frequent commentator on CourtTV, and speaker on numerous criminal and trial topics for the Milwaukee Bar Association and Marquette University Law School.

Luczak has been recognized for his trial achievements in other areas as well. In 2023, he received the Kuchler-Nicholson-Stilling Sensitive Crimes Award by the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers for his successful verdict in a felony assault trial. The Wisconsin Law Journal has decorated him several times by naming him an “Up and Coming Lawyer” in the past and then again for its inaugural “Legal All-Stars” distinction. BizTimes Media in Milwaukee, WI, also selected him as a “Rising Star in Law” and as a “Notable Litigator and Trial Attorney” throughout the entire Milwaukee area. Luczak is also perennially listed as a Wisconsin Super Lawyer and a Best Lawyer.
