Biography
Joshua H. Hernandez is the Assistant Director of the Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinics (MVLC) at Marquette University Law School, where he helps oversee MVLC operations and recruits, supports, and supervises law students and volunteer attorneys. In his role, Josh leads the MVLCs’ Mobile Legal Clinic, which brings legal services directly into Milwaukee neighborhoods and serves more than 1,000 community members annually. The Mobile Legal Clinic includes a growing focus on estate planning and probate matters for low-income individuals and families, expanding the clinic’s ability to address critical legal needs, while providing students with meaningful opportunities for experiential learning.
Prior to joining the Office of Public Service, Josh practiced employee benefits and investment management law, working primarily with unions and public pension plans. His experience counseling sophisticated clients, building trusted relationships, and negotiating complex legal matters informs his client-centered approach to serving the Milwaukee community with dignity, empathy, and practical legal guidance. Josh holds a J.D., magna cum laude, from Marquette University Law School, where he also completed the National Sports Law Institute’s Sports Law Certificate. He has also earned an M.B.A. from Marquette University and bachelor’s degrees in marketing and sociology from The University of Texas at Austin.
Committed to expanding access to justice, Josh works to ensure that more individuals and families receive meaningful legal assistance while also helping law students become skilled, compassionate, and service-minded attorneys.
