Biography

Judge Laura A. Crivello has been serving as a Circuit Court Judge in Branch 36 of Milwaukee County since 2018. In her current role, she oversees cases involving homicide and sexual assault and presides over the felony, homicide, and sexual assault divisions. Prior to this, she led the Milwaukee Children’s Division as its presiding judge, a position she assumed in September 2019.

Before her appointment to the bench, Judge Crivello dedicated 24 years to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office, where she focused on prosecuting violent crimes. Her career in prosecution culminated in her role as the captain of the North Central High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) for the final five years.

Judge Crivello also contributes to legal education as an adjunct professor of Trial Advocacy at Marquette Law School, where she has taught for the past seven years. She regularly presents at judicial education programs on subjects including pretrial issues, suppression motions, evidence admissibility, search warrants, treatment courts, and other areas of criminal law. Additionally, she serves on the Wisconsin Criminal Jury Instruction Committee.

Married to Frank T. Crivello for thirty years in July of 2025, Judge Crivello is the mother of two adult daughters, Sydney and Samantha, and three rescue dogs, Lila Grace, Harley, and Chloe Louise.
