Biography

Mark Sanders was elected to Branch 28 of the Milwaukee County Circuit Court in April 2012. In his tenure as a Circuit Court Judge, Mark has presided over hundreds of jury trials including homicide, sexual assault and termination of parental rights matters. He is currently assigned to a Homicide and Sexual Assault calendar.

Mark has presented at various judicial education conferences. In the fall of 2022, Mark co-chaired the Wisconsin Judicial Conference, an annual statewide 2.5 day judicial education conference. In December 2022, Mark was appointed to the statewide Judicial Education Committee.

Mark is a 1990 graduate of Miami University with a BA in Political Science and 1993 graduate of Marquette University Law School (cum laude). Following graduation, he worked as an Associate Attorney at Quarles & Brady practicing commercial and antitrust litigation. In January 1997, Mark accepted an appointment as a Milwaukee County Assistant District Attorney. In his 15 years in the Milwaukee DA’s Office, Mark prosecuted thousands of cases in adult and juvenile court including complex drug conspiracies and Len Bias homicide. Mark also served for more than two years as a Community Prosecutor working directly with members of the community and the Milwaukee Police Department to address the causes and consequences of crime in Milwaukee neighborhoods.

While serving as an Assistant District Attorney, Mark was a member of the faculty for the National College of District Attorneys. He regularly lectured at the National Advocacy Center and at national conferences on trial advocacy and related topics.

Mark has two lovely and charming daughters – Lily a professional Cinematographer and camera operator and Zoe a student at the University of Oklahoma.
