Biography

Megan A. O'Brien is the Associate Law Librarian for Access Services. She also focuses on foreign, comparative, and international law legal research at Marquette University Law School. As Adjunct Professor of Law, she regularly teaches Advanced Legal Research courses in international law, business law, and Wisconsin law. As well, she collaborates in the first-year Legal Analysis, Writing and Research program. 

Megan A. O'Brien joined the law library in February of 2007 as a part-time Access Services Supervisor, while earning her Master's in Library and Information Sciences from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Ms. O'Brien completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She earned her JD from John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois, where she was a member of the law review.  Following law school, Ms. O'Brien practiced in Chicago in the area of business law and securities & commodities litigation.

Ms. O'Brien served on an American Society of International Law steering committee which created a new ASIL interest group, the International Legal Research Interest Group.  She served on the founding board of the International Legal Research Interest Group from 2010 - 2013.  Ms. O'Brien served on the Grants Committee of the Law Librarians Association of Wisconsin from 2008 - 2015. From 2013 to 2015, she served as LLAW's Grants & Awards Committee Chair.  Ms. O'Brien served on the Board of Trustees for the Shorewood Public Library from 2017 - 2019.
