Biography

Samuel J. Leib, founding shareholder of Leib & Katt, LLC, represents clients in matters involving medical malpractice, health law, general litigation and business transactions and disputes nationwide. While representing clients from California to Connecticut, Sam has tried more than 150 cases to winning verdicts. On the state level, he has represented governmental entities and subdivisions on personal injury and civil rights claims. With a special focus on medical professional liability litigation, Sam is regarded as one of the top medical malpractice defense lawyers by professional liability insurance carriers. He has defended health care providers as diverse as hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, physicians, nurses, physician assistants, dentists and mental health professionals. Defense of oral surgeons through OMSNIC, the profession's national insuring organization, has been part of Sam's practice for more than two decades, and he has received numerous awards for defense of oral surgeons in Wisconsin. In addition to liability defense, Sam's health law practice also encompasses business and transactional advice to provider organizations in matters ranging from mergers and buyouts to licensing and credentialing disputes.

For the past six years, Sam has been selected by his professional peers for inclusion in Wisconsin Super Lawyers. He has also received the Continuing Excellence Award of OMSNIC, and is rated Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell. Among other professional distinctions, he has been on the faculty of Marquette University Law School since 1999, as an instructor in the area of health care provider liability, and has lectured frequently on and litigation issues.
