Legal Pitfalls for Startups by Professor Nathan Hammons, Director of the Marquette Law and Entrepreneurship Clinic. In this presentation, offered in conjunction with Startup Milwaukee Week, Professor Hammons will discuss how to spot and avoid common legal pitfalls for startups. Topics will include (1) selecting an optimal business entity (LLC or corporation); (2) structuring founder equity; (3) developing and protecting intellectual property; (4) seed financing; and (5) finding and working with a good startup attorney.
