Biography
Craig Mastantuono teaches Criminal Practice, a course focusing on each stage of the criminal justice process from both the prosecution and the defense perspectives, co-taught with Professor Dan Blinka. In his practice at Mastantuono Coffee & Thomas SC Attorney Mastantuono defends people accused of crime in State and Federal courts in Wisconsin. He began his career at the Wisconsin State Public Defender before entering private practice. Attorney Mastantuono is respected and recognized across Wisconsin as an aggressive criminal trial lawyer and effective negotiator. He is a past-President of the Wisconsin Hispanic Lawyers Association and current Board Chair of the American Constitution Society Milwaukee Lawyer Chapter. Attorney Mastantuono served on Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers’ Transition Team Advisory Council on Public Safety and Criminal Justice Reform and currently serves on the Wisconsin Judicial Selection Advisory committee, assisting the Evers Administration with appointing judges and improving the competency and diversity of the Wisconsin bench. He earned his JD at DePaul University College of Law and a BBA at Loyola University of Chicago. With more than thirty years of experience practicing criminal law, he still gets nervous before trials, and explains to anyone who will listen the parallels between jazz improvisation and the art of cross examination.
