Biography

Dan Sawall joined the law library as a Reference & Instructional Services Law Librarian in 2025. Returning to his alma mater, Professor Sawall earned both a B.S. and his J.D. at Marquette University—graduating with a B.S. in Education and English. Following graduation, he practiced in the civil field representing both plaintiffs and defendants across a spectrum of issues, but with an emphasis on professional liability defense for health-care professionals. Returning to school, he then graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with his Master's in Library and Information Science in 2025 before joining the law library.

As a Reference & Instructional Services Librarian & Assistant Adjunct Professor of Law, Professor Sawall assists students, faculty and the community with legal research in addition to teaching in the classroom.

He is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, United States District Court Eastern District of Wisconsin, United States District Court Western District of Wisconsin, American Bar Association, Law Librarians Association of Wisconsin, Mid-America Association of Law Libraries, and the American Association of Law Libraries.
