Technology, Wars, and Empires. Multinational corporations now operate on the front lines of geopolitics, where trade volatility, regional conflicts, and rapid AI adoption create immediate regulatory and boardroom risk. This session examines the modern corporate battleground through three lenses: technology, which generates novel liabilities around AI governance and dual-use export controls; wars, which heighten enforcement risks across disrupted supply chains, aggressive sanctions interdiction, and criminal trade fraud; and empires, which force multinational enterprises to navigate the expanding extraterritorial reach of regulators. Eric A. Berg, L’07, Idex Corporation

AI Is No Longer the Future of Legal Practice. It Is Already Changing How Legal Work Gets Done. This practical CLE shows how a boutique personal injury and workers’ compensation firm uses AI to streamline workflows, improve work product, and move cases forward. From intake and record review to drafting, discovery, and litigation preparation, we’ll demonstrate how AI can reduce time spent on repetitive, document-heavy tasks and give attorneys more time for judgment, advocacy, and strategy. Ryan M. Froelich, L’02, Robert J. Janssen, L’88, and Zach Janssen, L’23, Janssen Law LLC

Outside the Four Corners: AI Contracting for In-House Counsel. How do attorneys draft protections around the amorphous risk profile of artificial intelligence? How do legal practitioners tie governance codes to a concept that is intentionally ungovernable? In this panel, we will discuss tips and best practices for contracting around AI, from indemnity, to representations and warranties, to pre-processes and post-execution mitigation. Molly Madonia, L’16, Froedtert ThedaCare Health Inc.

When AI Gets It Wrong, Who Gets Sued? Ethics and Legal Malpractice in the Age of Artificial Intelligence. AI is becoming part of everyday legal practice, bringing new ethical and professional liability risks. What happens when AI-generated research is wrong, confidential information is exposed, or AI-assisted work contains errors? Through practical scenarios, this session explores lawyers’ duties of competence, confidentiality, supervision, candor, and independent judgment, with guidance for using AI responsibly while remaining accountable for the work delivered to clients. Geraldo “Jerry” Olivo, L’08, Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt, P.A.
