Conversations with Commissioner Emeritus Selig: How Major League Baseball Maintains Competitive Balance Without a Salary Cap

On Thursday, November 5th, Major League Baseball Commissioner Emeritus and Marquette University Law School Distinguished Lecturer in Sports Law & Policy Bud Selig, will visit for his final Conversation with students this fall semester.  This Conversation will focus on How Major League Baseball Maintains Competitive Balance Without a Salary Cap, and the current state of negotiations in baseball.  Commissioner Emeritus invites students to provide their questions on the registration form, or come with questions about any aspect of Major League Baseball, or current issues in professional sports in general.  As this is the Commissioner Emeritus’ last visit of 2026, plan to stay a meet him after or at least to say thank you if you enjoyed his visits this fall.  Lunch will be provided to all attendees.  Food should arrive by 12 pm, so please come to room 433 soon after.  The Conversation will start at 12 pm in room 433.
